Rosa Tuffney has over 25 years experience as a pencil artist and business entrepreneur. From the
age of five this little Londoner was seldom without a pencil and paper.
During her school years Rosa was constantly being sent to the headmistress for challenging
authority, though it is true to say that she was sent just as often to receive a merit or distinction
for her immaculate drawing skills.
Five years after leaving school Rosa was selling drawings to several galleries in the south east
of England and running her own company, Aston Paper Co Ltd.
Throughout the 1980's the creative focus was on portrait drawing by commission and a sojourn into
the world of paint. Large landscapes in oil was the perfect foil for someone who had spent years
with pencils.
As the decade progressed the corporate portfolio expanded to include Aston
Envelope Co Ltd and Aston Printworks Ltd, all based in the Medway Towns in Kent.
The following decade saw a huge change of direction. Mid life crisis maybe, but Rosa shed all her
corporate investments and at the age of thirty two went back to University to devote even more
effort and focus to her drawing skills.
It gave her the time and space to experiment and explore
the mediums to the point of abstraction. |

These years of study increased Rosa's sensitivity in the
handling of the materials which now enables her to express an element of feeling into the work
beyond the purely visual.
Having now acquired an acceptable level of drawing skills Rosa celebrated the new Millennium by
re-entering the corporate sector armed with her improved abilities, determined to create another
group of companies but this time around her love of art. Nine years into this epoch and she now
has a modest but buoyant little group of companies which includes Maverick Art, a bespoke fine art
dealers, Westcountry Toners Ltd, an IT supplies company, The Devon School of Art, a studio
based school and online tuition worldwide and a series of books written by Rosa on learning how to
draw.
Rosa, now an established wildlife artist has combined forces with internationally renown wildlife
artist Steve Burgess. Together, with Maverick Art, they organize exhibitions of their finest drawings
and paintings at Wildlife Trust's fund raising gala nights giving the patrons and guests a wonderful
opportunity to see and purchase original works of art and spend time with the artists. A substantial
donation is then made to the Trust from the sale of the art.
Several thousand pounds has been raised this year for various wildlife trusts including WWF, The
World Wildlife Trust. Further engagements this year include Wildlife Aid with Simon Cowell MBE,
The David Sheldrick Foundation, The Shark and Coral Conservation with TV personality Monty
Halls and Monty Halls Senior and The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Slimbridge.
Everyday Rosa is still drawing, urgently seeking to realize her full potential, a quest she freely
admits will never be fulfilled, but what a thrill trying. |
